It’s a great option for those of you who are looking to get your cigar collection started and it comes in many versions including a glass top and in a couple of different colors too.

If you are looking for a smaller sized humidor you should definitely consider the Capri!

Hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later, as I’m finding that with the excellent weather I’d much rather be outside rather than in front of my computer!

Brazil lost to Holland in what I think was the game of the tournament.  Great momentum shifts, great plays, crazy mistakes and a great upset!

France has imploded in spectacular fashion…absolute craziness what has gone on with that team.  Looks like they will be out VERY early.

In the meantime I enjoyed another CAO Brazilia Gol during the Brazil-Korea DPR match, one of the more interesting games until now.  Every time I take one of these smokes out of the humidor I’m impressed with it.  I may very well enjoy one during every Brazil game!  Tacky, I know…

What I generally do (and a lot of people disagree with it) is remove the humidifier for a little while until humidity levels get lower and then put the humidifier back in.   If this is the route you choose, make sure to monitor your hygrometer to make sure levels don’t get too low before replacing the humidifier.  One thing you don’t want to do is just leave your humidor open.  This can throw off humidity levels a bit too drastically and the levels may get too low before you realize it.  Simply removing your humidifier for a little while will produce a more subtle change in levels.

What I’ve seen some people do is insert the strips of cedar that come in cigar boxes into their humidors. This is probably the best way to regulate temperatures in your humidor since the dry cedar strips will absorb some of the humidity in the humidor and should bring down the overall humidity levels.  I don’t generally hold on to them so it isn’t an option for me.

Remember, you don’t want humidity levels to get too high because it can cause mold to develop. This is a sure fire way of ruining your cigars.

You need to keep in mind that the owners of many Cuban cigar companies actually left Cuba during the revolution.  While Castro was busy nationalizing their cigar companies, they were busy restarting their businesses elsewhere in countries like the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Honduras.

While you can’t recreate climate and soil conditions, you can certainly find places that come close.  Which is exactly what they did.  A great example of this is Padrón which grows their tobacco in Nicaragua and whose owners are of Cuban descent.

Cuban cigars are excellent, but it doesn’t mean that nothing else is as good.  So while I would definitely recommend having some Cubans in your humidor, don’t fret if you can’t get your hands on them because you’ve got plenty of good options out there.

Instead of smoking tobacco you basically purchase the ‘cigarette’ (a plastic tube) and you insert what I call the chemical cartridge into it.  The ‘cigarette’ then does its thing and vaporizes all of the chemicals into your mouth without creating any smoke.

Something about this seems so silly to me.  You continue to be addicted and you continue to ingest all the chemicals, but you don’t want to smoke real tobacco?  I suppose this could be useful for smokers who are surrounded by people who don’t like the smell of their smoke.

Personally, if I can’t smoke a real cigar I’m just not smoking.  Why does absolutely everything need to be sanitized now-a-days?
